Looks as if the linker is looking for the aRts-C-Bindings but couldn't find it. Did you install aRts? Is it in your USE-Variable. Perhaps you should try USE="-arts" emerge...
I can indivually merge all the other requirements for mplayer, just not
this one.
My mplayer emerge fine, but I've got aRts installed (from kde).
