Just my $.02:

I don't fit into the category of those who 'need' Gentoo. I simply find it
the most coherent distro out there. It doesn't hurt that the webspace is
filled with people like yourself who have hands on knowledge about how to do
stuff, and are willing to share it with others minus the 'tude' you see
elsewhere. 

Also, the documentation is the very highest quality. 90% of the time all I
need is a quick trip to the Gentoo Manual or Wiki to resolve something that
is beyond my paygrade.

It's been like 4 years since I started with Gentoo, and every day I am
grateful for this fabulous disto and the folks who understand it better than
I! :)
