The kernel isn't *too* old, but when the 2007.1 live-cds are finally released, we'll have a more up-to-date kernel that should continue to improve our support for most common hardware. Are you sure the problems you're having are really caused by the live-cd kernel? Can you provide a description of the hardware that's causing you the problems? If you can boot with any Linux live-cd, look at the relevant output of "lspci". Please try also to describe your problems with the cd. Since you talk about the forums, if you made a post about your problem, please give us a link to it.
