Dear George,

I very much agree with you. Because I am a (happy) gentoo user, I was able to 
install gentoo despite the gentoo-live-cd did not detect my hard disc 
correctly (I used SystemRescueCD and Sabayon). I was worried about users that 
are not used to gentoo and want to start using it following the 
gentoo-handbook. Nevertheless, I might have done someting wrong during the 
installation process. My IDE interface is: 

00:02.5 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5513 [IDE] (rev 01)
00:05.0 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SATA Controller / IDE 
mode (rev 03)
