Hey Christian, We should talk about your project since I am deep in the XACML/SAML P*P world these days, trying to help the OGC figure out what GeoXACML really means to them in the context of OGC web services, and looking at lots of different implementations.
Apache 2.0 is incompatible with the GPL v2.0. Indeed, a major motivation of GPLv3.0 was to allow the integration of Apache and GNU code. GPLv3 is compatible with Apache 2.0. Unfortunately, I don't remember any of the details so I don't know how this affects the LGPL v2.0. If this could be a blocker for you, I'm sure the PMC could be persuaded to change the license back to include the ", or at your option, any later version" clause that would let you keep working. No one particularly cared if I remember right; the choice resulted partly because I had harmonized a bunch of code before I hit a header that used the 'or any later version' language so it was easier to kick it out that to keep it in. So it sounds like it could be a good project of GSOC. --adrian On Tue, 2009-01-20 at 18:40 +0100, Christian Müller wrote: > Following the discussion about licensing problems causes me to ask a further > question. > > I am thinking about impelementing the GeoXACML specification for geotools as > GSOC 2009 project. > > http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/geoxacml > > This is a geospatial extension for XACML (authorization) and uses SAML > (authentification).
