Sun can EOL JDK 5 (Sun have reached EOL themselves), but JDK 5 will
continue to run in many places. JDK 5 is the reference platform because
it is the lowest common denominator across platforms. For example, the
last time I checked, Java 6 was available but not standard on Mac. There
are many organisations running servlet containers under Java 5. As a
consequence, Java 5 is our principal build target, and so gets the most
love. Java 6 support should be improved, but Java 5 support is critical.

Perhaps a parallel JDK 6 Hudson would stimulate improvement?
