My first post to the list! I'm still not sure what geowanking is, but
it seems appropriate especially as I'm from Australia! I've been
enjoying the various links that people have posted to indicate their
influences... perhaps worth consolidating to a geowanking wiki?
The influences that lead to me being here are surprisingly
different... I'm interested in information and configuration
management, tracking data changes through organisations. In writing,
that looks as boring as being a database administrator, but it's
interesting to me! Information that is, not databases. :)
I can't really cite any influences, since I'm not originating from
mapping, geo, gis, or related areas. I do share the fascination with
islands and other strange places around the world; here are some of
my favourites:

I do have the pre-requisite "geosomething" domain name, and this list
is doomed (yay!) to forever be just a casual group of like-minded
people with an uncommercial name, so I'll be around for a while
longer. Hopefully I will announce something soon!
Steve.
PS. If you have the latest Mac, you might enjoy playing with
geopano.net - drag the globe around, and space bar for night time mode.
