I dunno about that...I thought the eyeTap was pretty low-barrier: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EyeTap
How many people do you know own a mobile - and how many would buy an EyeTap? Ubiquity is nice. Also, a mobile provides ready-made and easy user input. Eventually HUD through wearable devices will be good and prevalent, but again, for engaging discussion it seems useful to use existing tools to demonstrate possibilities. Simple AR using mobile http://www.mobilitysite.com/2006/03/augmented_reality_on_imate_sp5.php AR for museum exploration http://e-pub.uni-weimar.de/frontdoor.php?source_opus=711
AR seems to loose something if you have to look at a device. I could see AR being helpful in turning the windshielf of a car into a HUD overlaying CGI icons of locations of interest on the actual real world view.
Agreed that those are nice too. _______________________________________________ Geowanking mailing list [email protected] http://lists.burri.to/mailman/listinfo/geowanking
