Not sure how they'll sell it over here in the UK. A £25/month contract
will usually score you a free handset of the order of a SE W950 or Nokia
N73. Not entirely convinced that there is a market (over here at least)
the will pay an extra ~£400 for what is for most people a commodity item
- ie a camera phone that plays music.

Never underestimate Apple's abilty to appeal to the unwashed masses even in
the face of more cost effective alternatives.  PT Barnum was right.

I don't doubt for a minute that you're right. However, pound-for-pound the iPod range is fairly competitive with offerings from Samsung, Philips etc. Likewise their PC hardware. This is something else though - they're actually asking for people to buy a phone. Phones are free. OK, you might pay a nominal £50 for a bleeding edge model, but £400? Maybe they'll have a different pricing structure over here, but the concept of buying a phone and the size of the price seems like a huge barrier to the mass market.
