What's the empty string? url or s ?
you sure you are passing something in url?

Hmm, that's odd.  Everything appears to be correct. What happens
if you call "s = ttt.get(url, 3)" in the first example?

Same thing : empty string, no internet access, firewall not fired ( it gets fired and the page is retrieved when I put the literal string)...
