Hi all,

It's about time to replace my old pair of glasses, and since I'd
rather not waste $400 I see no reason not to shop online instead of at
an overpriced retailer. I'd like to find a retailer that offers nice
lenses, even if they cost a bit more than the cheapest ones out there.

The lenses I have right now are a moderately strong prescription
(-7.00 last I had them checked) and made polycarbonate with anti-
reflective coating, and are five or six years old now. Honestly,
they're just awful. I'm one of those people who is very sensitive to
chromatic aberration; I guess I look off-axis a lot, and seeing red
and blue outlines on *everything* bothers me. (There's a purple LED on
my computer, and if I look at it out of the corner of my eye, I see
two wholly separate red and blue circles....). So ideally I'd like a
lens material that's got a reasonably high index (better than
polycarbonate at 1.59, anyway) and a good Abbe number (hard to do
worse than polycarbonate at 30). I also want a nice anti-reflective
coating, particularly one that's easier to clean than this old
LensCrafters garbage.

Is there any retailer out there who describes their lenses in enough
detail to know what their chromatic performance is, or better yet one
that sells lenses that definitely meet my above criteria?

Thanks for any help,
Rob
