As for finding the highest index with the best Abbe values, check out
this list http://www.opticampus.com/tools/materials.php
As you can see, regular cr39 probably has the best Abbe value after
crown glass, but with a -7.00 script, your talking some pretty thick
lenses (especially at rhe outer rims).
Have heard many on here who have high negative scripts suggest getting
the smallest lens size you feel comfortable with, because it will cut
the weight, and the thickness around the lens edges.

Spectralite seems to be about middle of the road with a index of 1.537
and a Abbe value of 47.
