I've decided that I want to take the plunge and order glasses online, but I am completely torn as to which lens type to choose. Here's my prescription:
OD: -6.50 OS: -5.25 -0.50 x 032 I'm not exactly what type of lens I have in my current glasses (slightly less strong prescription than the one listed above) because I actually purchased them when in Thailand last year, but the specs on the glasses I currently have are: Lens Width: 47 mm Lens Height: 27 mm Bridge: 18 mm Total Width: 127 mm PD: 56 The best measurement of my current thickness is with a mm ruler, and both lenses at their thickest point are around 5 mm. I'd like to get a pair of acetate frames. I've ordered my contacts from Coastal Contacts for years and have had great service, so I'd like to give them a try since I need to reorder contacts anyway, however their base lens is 1.5 index. I'm also interested in some of the frames that Zenni has, partially because their basic lens is 1.59 index, but their high number of complaints is scaring me off a little bit. I've looked at the thickness calculator, but I really can't decide. Would there be a better site to purchase from that has a higher index standard? I don't really want to pay the $30-$40 extra for higher index if I don't have to, or if there wouldn't be an appreciable difference. Also, apparently I must have a small head because when I compare the measurements of my current glasses, almost all other frames are much wider. Other than Zenni, are there other sites that have a selection of narrower frames? The current sunglasses I have now are 135 mm wide, and they look fine, I just don't want to end up with frames that are too big for my face and have coke bottle lenses. Help!
