Well, I took the plunge.  I bought a pair of prescription sunglasses
from Zenni (blue frames with 80% grey tint):

I just went with their standard 1.59 index lens.  I figure, they are
just sunglasses, so I won't be too upset if the lenses are a little on
the thicker side.  If I can handle the thickness of the 1.59 lenses
(and happy with Zenni's service), I'll order more from them.
