You're prescription would benefit from higher index lenses, it's not
an exact science but anything over -5/+3 usually benefit from higher
index lenses. Sticking with a smaller lens width also helps, as I'm
sure you're aware.

I also have noticed that many frames are 50mm width and up, these are
too wide for me also and I suspect it's a fashion trend that's working
against us. I would argue that few people need a lens much wider than
50mm.
