I decided last month to try ordering glasses online for the first time
with one of the GlassyEyes coupons for EyeBuyDirect. I ordered a pair
that looked good on my photo, but when I got them they were far far
too big. I returned them and got a replacement pair with the smallest
total width that I could find and they were again far too wide (made
me look cross-eyed).
When I contacted them to return the glasses they said that I could not
get a refund because the replacement/refund deal is a one-time thing.
In the FAQ it says that there is a 100% satisfaction guarantee and
that there can be a one-time replacement if you don't like your
glasses. It does not say in the FAQ that you could not get a refund on
the replacement pair.
I know this is probably due to my inattention because after reading
the FAQ I did not also read the Shipping and Returns section that said
that the refund is a one-time only thing as well. Not once was I told
that if I replaced that pair I would not be able to return it when I
was talking with the customer service reps.
So now I'm stuck with a pair of glasses I cannot use, and the offer of
10% my next purchase (which I will not use as I don't intend to buy
online again due to all of this).
Is there anything I can do or should I just chalk it up to a lesson
learned (don't buy anything without trying it on first, and read ALL
the fine print no matter how scattered it is around the site)?
