There seems to be a strong drive to just rush out and advertise
while skipping the work of identifying your target population and
determining what changes, if any, are necessary in the gnhLUG programs
to spark their interest.

What if you get a significant number of new people to come to a
meeting, but they find the presentation misses their interest target?
How many times will they respond to a gnhLUG advert again?

Let's say you were attracted to a climate-change group's meeting.
When you got there, the discussion was about the latest tweaks in the
differential equations for the mathematical models. No
misrepresentation occurred, of course, but the material does not match
your background or your needs. (Liberty taken with assumptions about
the reader's background.)

But perhaps the risk disappointed newcomers is easier to bear
than the delay and turmoil of a businesslike approach in this
non-business environment.

I will suggest a business-minded approach in a separate post, in
case anyone wishes to slow down.
