  I'll be the first to admit that I do have a knee-jerk reaction to anything
Microsoft.  And, frankly, I make no apologies for it.  But, for the sake of
averting a thread-from-hell, I'll refraining from detailing it all -- I'm
sure much of it has been discussed on this list ad-infinitem.

  Yeah, I knew about that.  Not as big a deal, since the code was GPL,
those developers contributed and did not violate the GPL.  They could
conceivable 'pull' their contributions, but since they are GPLed, the
snapshot before they pull it would allow continued development by someone
else.  Besides, I doubt that relatively low number of occurences of the
company name would threaten Linux to it's core.  If worse came to worse
pull all of their contributions and serious doubt the impact to the
kernel would be even noticeable.
  With .NET, M$ has already warned (several months ago) when asked about
Mono, that they would do what they could to 'protect their intellectual
property,' even though they were paying lip service to Mono as a good
thing.  Think software patents (which already threaten us), think DMCA.
