Adam: Does your GNOME Shell environment provides a "Welcome to Your New Desktop" kind of thing and then points to gnome3.org for tutorial videos? I am just responding to a post that suggests a Welcome dialog box in a freshly installed distro with GNOME Shell as the desktop. Does the stable GNOME 3 provides that? If not, then your gnome3.org point is moot as this has something to do with new users to get them informed of what's new and what's not.
