The reference manual explains how to make the
extender with "__".

I would like to make one lyric (e.g. "foo" above)
extend for several bars. I tried things like
foo1 __ _ __
but Lilypond "junked" my extend_reqs. What is the
best way?
(btw: congratulations to the developers - it's a
great piece of work.)
