In light of Jan's suggestion to change the algorithm for autobeaming,
I think it's worth stressing again - when composers have control of
their typesetting, beaming is an essential element of their
description of the articulation of their sound. Anyone producing a
'urtext' edition with LilyPond will have to be able to rely on
autobeaming staying the same across Lily versions.

Most last-century editors made their music look pretty on the
assumption that their editor was more important than the original
composer - many Lily users (including this one) will practice the
opposite. So it's important that autobeaming permit a clear
logically-complete statement of autobeaming in the \paper block, in
some way or other.
