This is exactly why the discussion should stay technical.

I am not going to attack GNUDash or its author. Similar tools can exist because GnuCash reporting and analytics is an obvious area where users may want more options.

Cashdera is my own project, with its own implementation, architecture, and roadmap.

If people want to compare tools, that should be done on facts: import correctness, performance, platform support, reporting features, UI/UX, privacy model, and maintenance.

But suggesting misconduct without evidence is not fair and does not help GnuCash users.

Ars

Ok in that case, let me introduce GNUDash.

It does exactly what cashdera does with a remarkably similar interface  (because it was suspiciously released 2 weeks before cashdera existed).

It’s cross platform, free and open source.

(To note - I don’t expect anyone here to actually use my personal project, I’m just showing you what happens if we allow endless promotion)

    Hello GnuCash Mailing List,

It has been interesting reading the comments regarding the Caldera
software.  here is my two cents worth:

I have little interest in the FOSS vs free software debate.
    However, as a
long-time user of the wonderful GnuCash software, I have a strong
    interest
in information on tools that may enhance the GnuCash experience.
    Caldera
might well be one of those tools.  Time will tell.  Can we lay the
    cudgels
down, and perhaps step back and take a breath?  It seemed to me
    that the
author of Caldera was simply throwing a beta out there and asking for
feedback.  Is this a hanging offence?

As I said, just my two cents worth.
