Yes, the USA had not yet celebrated its 100th birthday. My understanding is that economic possibilities is what made them leave Goa and travel to those distance shores (in dhows, may I add). I have no idea if Catholism has made it easier for Goans to migrate out of Goa/India. What I do know is why I immigrated from Tanzania to Canada. It was for purely economic reasons. I could go to work in Tanzania and get paid x number of dollars a month or do the same work in Canada and get paid 5x dollars a month. The Catholic/Hindu/Muslim services here in Toronto are on par with the religious services in Goa. As for you last question, that's a real mystery. The longest time I have spent in Goa is four months.
