Consider --- why do migrants come to Goa ? To make a living.

1) Aren't Goans buying from migrant vendors in the market? I am sure they do,
or else
how would migrant vendors survive?

Migrants fight in the market economy, probably give lesser rates and/or better
service than Goans, and hence survive.

What does our govt. do to help Goans? Migrants surely fight in a level playing
field --- they probably have more exposure than Goans in how
to win in a market.

Goan consumers benefit because they may get better goods at cheaper rates due
to this.

2) Migrants do the bulk of the construction work. Due to this, the construction
industry benefits.

Bottom line migrants are no different than you and me who have migrated to
Bangalore or some place abroad in search of work. It is big time hypocricy to
say no to one while yes to another.

Surely, what we could ask of the govt. is a level-playing field for Goans and a
controlled influx of migrants.

But then, when our politicians themselves have sold to the highest bidder,
how do we solve the problem?

Is it too difficult to see that it is the greed of our construction industry
and that of the politicians and the people who elect them
(that is us) for short-term gains, the root cause of the problem?

Passing the buck to the migrants is just xenophobia
and inability to see the reality and the cause of the problem.

Samir
