What I see in the video are a number of blatant land
use violations, including building close to the
water's edge. Ironically, Mallya's land use violations
are close to Salgaonkar's River Princess ecocological
disaster. This is capitalism's illegal and ugly face.
What is needed are capitalists who obey the law and
don't destroy the environment (they are hard to find,
especially in Goa).

Hey, George,

Mallya's capitalism has created tens of thousands of
well paying jobs in India, many for Marxists who would
starve otherwise, as well as massive tax revenues in a
country where tax cheating is rampant, for hard
working socialists to squander:-))

I was sorry to see you revert to Marxist form, after
uncharacteristically straying from your Marxist path
in your following post:

If your reaction was not what I would call knee-jerk,
you would realize that, if Mallya has violated any
land use laws when building a private palace this has
as much to do with capitalism as one of your Marxist
friends building an illegal jhopdi on the footpath
has to do with Marxism.

I'm not sure what violations of land use laws you
noticed in the video, but I would encourage you to
talk to the local Sarpanch and demand that they be
reversed:-))

All I could see was an opulent modern palace,
befitting a successful Indian capitalist.

Perhaps you will learn that no land use laws were
violated due to the specifics of the situation. I
have friends who bought old properties close to the
water's edge in Candolim that were grandfathered from
the newer laws and have developed these into lucrative
rental properties. Perhaps Mallya did the same.
Aren't the Taj properties in Sinquerim close to the
water's edge as well?

Hey, I have an idea. Why not ask him to a) remove the
wreck of the Salgaocar River Princess, which he
probably would have done already if it spoiled his
view, and b) fund Goa Sudharop. His pocket change
should keep the operation functioning for several
years, and really put his capitalism to use. That
would be far more productive than just being bitter
about his success.

Just like Lovino Rebello in Anjuna, make wonderful
lemonade instead of sucking lemons:-))

That's the capitalist way:-))
