If the Germans look carefully ....even the European Community is not in tandem with on this law. I believe that anybody who denies the existence of either the Holocaust or the Inquisition (or both) needs a visit to the psychiatrist, and have his head seriously examined. So also anybody who states (for example) that the holocaust was directed mainly against the Portuguese Jews. (They would have been a significant number if (the later) Pope John the XXIII had not sought help from the Portuguese Ambassador in Istambul to forge their birth certificates + passports and send them to the Americas and the Caribbean via the sea route) So also anybody who states that the Inquisition in Goa was NOT directed mainly against the Jews and the new converts to Catholicism. One such person - is Priolkar. It matters little where he was based or what his zealous affiliation may have been. What matters are the following (IF we are to regard him as a historian i.e. one who is interested in History ....not selective interpretation of selective History) a: Were the Inquisitors the only criminals in ' the india ' of the time? b: Did 'we' also send hundreds of thousands of innocent people to a premature and fiery end? c: Were 'we' a peaceful people? d: etc etc I personally would have appreciated Priolkar as a historian IF he had done a comparative analysis of what he knew or ought to have known as an unbiased historian. The fact that he did not do so ....clearly leads me to believe that Priolkar was a zealot propagandist in the garb of a historian. There are tons of them around. Some of them even deny that there was an Inquisition or a Holocaust; Others will never tell you about our guy 'Sambhaji" and his exploits in South Goa. No ....it was NOT the feast of San Joao when young women had to jump into wells or into the River Sal to try hide from 'our glorious Maratha hero' ! They should have attempted to name the River after that 'hero', instead trying that on the town named Vasco da Gama. Perhaps, Karmali and de Souza can write letters to the Gomantak, vandalise a few place in Fontainhas and start that as a new project. jc 100% RC 100% Goan 100% anti-Inquisition 100% anti-Rape 100% anti-Female infanticide 100% anti-Sati 100% ant--Selective presentation of the facts 100% anti-Filthification of Goa 2009/7/26 Abhishek Kambli <[email protected]> In Germany, there is a rule that, if found guilty a holocaust denier or diminisher can be put behind bars. Maybe it is high time, we had some similar rule in Goa re the Inquisition. Maybe not a jail term but at least some reprimand. When you tell us that Priolkar was a Bombay based GSB, you also need to inform us about the religious orientation of people who are dismissing his views. without malice,
