I'm not trying to tile harvest - I'm just trying to solve a freaking 
technical problem, viz. dynamically instantiating multiple map instances 
(and removing them via the gc) is causing a browser crash. Having a single 
map instance to which I apply various overlays, and subsequently take a 
snapshot of, does the job - memory usage stays nearly flat. I can get this 
to work locally, just not on the 'Net. Grrrr....
