Do you guys have a feel for the threshold # of polygons (and points per
polygon) that it's worth considering encoding vs. not encoding?

Let's assume that data transfer isn't an issue, obviously it's always an
issue, but I want to isolate that and consider the encoding/unencoding
overhead.

Assuming you pre-encode, you always have to unencode and I'm assuming
there is overhead in unencoding? So for one or two simple polygons it
would be more efficient not to encode? And if so, where is the threshold
that makes unencoding worthwhile?
