I see that in many cases it is smart enough to utilize the capital
letters (forgetting to capitalize the nouns in German gives far poorer
results, for instance). However, we sometimes break rules for capital
letters, for instance in newspaper headlines. Maybe the translator
learns football team names from newspaper headlines?
