Why was Lenin's statue removed from Tripura? How does a statue become a
threat to the Sanghis? Lenin had inspired a large section of the freedom
fighters during the anti-colonial struggle in India. Including Bhagat
Singh. We may agree or disagree with Lenin. But what is the basis for your
anger against the craft of an artist who made a sculpture? You can say that
it is `good art work' or `bad art work'. But why destroy the work? And
Lenin did not plead guilty when he was deported to Siberia. Savarkar did
that six times kneeling down under the feet of British taking an
undertaking that `I will never fight against the British'. Yet, I do not
have any problem about having your statue of Savarkar in your area.
Provided the artwork is good. And if the statue is not the biggest in the
world like the Shivaji statue spending 3,500 crores, using the tax payers'
money. And in all these games, the civil society should not remain a statue.
