It's possible (and I've seend it done) to offer a base version via a
normal installer, and then expect the users to upgrade via Sparkle.  For
the reasons I mentioned, this is sub-optimal (to the point of rendering
the package un-upgradeable) for a number of the machines I maintain.

Sparkle is a nice convenience for those who can take the chance of admin
accounts for regular use, and for those on high bandwidth links.
