Euh, even counting the past-deadline votes, 21 team members means 25.30%
so I don’t know who is nitpicking. ;-)
Assuming the count after a couple of days from the deadline would be the
double of now or reaching 50% or more, I could have been on your side.
Here, sorry but appealing on the final state appears to me wringing the
GCD 001 process.

Let me remind two things for the sake of our common understanding.
1. The end of the Discussion Period was on 29 April and on the 22th, I
sent [1]:
What I fear is to either not reach the quorum for the Deliberation
Period, either to get “disapprove”.
What I propose is to (temporarily) withdraw the GCD. Quoting GCD 001:
Authors may withdraw their GCD at any time; they can resubmit it
again later (under a new GCD number).
Why? Because we are running out of time and some aspects still need
discussions.
2. You wrote on the 22th in [2]:
I am ok with the withdrawal state of this GCD, but I don't see me
giving
up prematurely.
[…]
I started the GCD—maybe a bit prematurely?—since discussion stopped on
the guix-devel thread predating it to get discussion going and to
eventually reach consent.
The final state does not jump as a complete surprise. Does it?
Be sure many of us know all the efforts you put in; they are not lost,
trust me. And after some GCDs, we know that we need to refine the GCD
process.
As Sponsor and a person with commit rights (I guess?), I will apply for
GCD 007 the section “Merging GCDs” [3] of GCD 001 on Fri 29 2026 – two
weeks after the end of the Deliberation Period [4]. Except if in the
meantime guix-maintainers raise some hold off on processing.
Cheers,
simon
