This is where adding the following to the voice settings menu will help
with the volume issue:
1. guide voice volume.
2. Guide voice male or female.
I did notice that music and books from audible have good volume.

Subject: Re: [GW-Booksense] Book Sense Wish List: (was: keypad input of
desired radio frequencies)
I guess they did have trouble with some speakers, but mine never blew at
the older high volume. I suspect what was blowing speakers was the volume
of the booksense voice itself as this always seems louder than the books,
and when I turned volume up high for the nls book, the other was fairly
loud. It needs a separate volume setting, or better yet an automatic gain
of some kind. I own both the stream and the booksense, and use the
booksense these days because of its ease in handling sub folders. I'm not
sure why, but the booksense still gets confused on some books when trying
to say jump to the next chapter where the stream does not. Although it
isn't a big deal, on the booksense, you have to actually open the folder
with an rfb book before it will play, while on the stream you just hit play
on the title. One of the main reasons I bought the booksense was the
higher volume on its own speaker, so I was disappointed when the last
update reduced the volume. I still use both readers, but use the booksense
more. I gather the victor stream will now record in mp3 if you want to buy
the firmware, but I don't plan on doing that.
