Hi Robert. I don't know if the list in general is interested in your viewpoint but at least on some level I not only want to hear it but agree with it. When I say access isn't the majorities problem I am speaking pragmatically not idealistically. Many if not most people seem to only care about things that directly link to them. Only when there is a massive push and they are confronted with the "error of their view" will they change it and than only until the political pendelum swings to the oposite direction.
AAn example of what I mean is the "choice" versus "life" issue.
The world ecconamy may be undergoing a similar change if the "recession deepens the push for public service public access in many areas could turn and do an about face. When man sets his opinion it's reversible with time from Clinton to bush from Bush to Obama from Obama to who knows.

When I was younger I saw the consumer movement as temporary eventually as success piled upon success a snowballing affect would eliminate the need for blind consumer organizations and we would all melt in to society at large. Now I see that may be a little to idealistic as evidenced by the fact that though we do have access to technology etc the job market still hasn't dented 75% unemployment is still way to high for anyminority. But it's easier for the government to create service adicts dependent on government support than to encourage and really press for equal and fair employment. We have increased access in housing public transit academia and much more but we can't crack this job thing. Maybe that will change as America gravitates to a more socialist society Probably a discussion for offlist but as noted I'm always interested in hearing your views because somewhere in the multiplicity of views we might accidentally stumble on a workible solution.

Michael,
You said "As Jim points out accessability isn't everyones problem not even the
majorities problem."

I completely and utterly disagree with that but I doubt anyone here is interested in my opinion.
