Hi,
If Microsoft was to take the approach of offering a full fledge screen
reader like window-eyes with the operating system then as soon as that
happens you luse choice. Remember there is only one option on the mac
voice over. On windows you have jaws window-eyes nvda and others. You have
the option of using what you want and you are not limited to only one
option. So based on what you are willing to pay for will determine what
you use. I have window-eyes and NVDA on this system as I right this. I
payed for window-eyes and NVDA is free. So I see nothing wrong with how it
works right now. There is a free option for those who want it and there is
a payed option for those who want that. So I don't think there is any need
to change anything at this point.
Btw the windows narrator found in windows 8 is not half bad and the text to
speech it offers is simply wonderful. I have used it with NVDA and narrator
and it is going to be a treat. I can't wait to play with it using
window-eyes.
So bring on that beta oh please.

I think if you could take the Apple approach, that would make it a lot
better.
With the mac, you're only paying $600-$2500 depending on the computer you
get from Apple, but the screen reader comes free with the OS.
But then again, we have things like ms narrator that are free with the OS,
but are total crap.
