Only one drawback so far. The Weather live tile no longer updates until
you bring up the Start Menu, click Start Screen group, and launch the
Weather app. Restarting the system doesn't do it.
Any way of fixing this?

Wow!! I'm currently running the trial of Startisback and may very well
end up eating crow as so far, I love this thing and may end up buying it
if all goes well. It does work perfectly with Window-eyes and functions
exactly like the traditional Windows 7 Start Menu. To customize,
there's a new Control Panel icon called Start Menu which works the same
as Windows 7's Taskbar and Start Menu icon. So far, very impressed.

I know of no app for bringing back the Windows 7 Start Menu in
Windows 8 that works with Window-eyes. Windows 8 makes use of
several Windows-key trigger hotkeys, one of which being Windows-R for
run, Windows-X brings down the same menu as right clicking the bottom
left of the screen.
Hope this helps.

I'm using Windows 8 on my new Dell desktop with no issues. Sounds
like
the conflict is with that Start Menu app. Have you tried removing it?

I have a new Toshiba notebook with Windows 8. I have installed the
"Start Is Back" app that gives the start menu back again. When I
try to
install a new program, the setup screen does not talk with WE8. The
mouse is also silent. I can't seem to get beyond that setup screen.
This was even true when I tried to do the WE8.2 update. Is there any
kind of work around for this? I'm on the verge of installing
Windows 7
over the top of Windows 8 or, if that doesn't work, returning the
notebook to the place of purchase.
