Yes I can do that and it works, however it is a huge pain in the butt!
I cut and paste literally dozens of times per day for my job.

Sam, couldn't you just paste the text into notepad and then it would 
strip the forjmatting? I have had a few instances where the selected 
text didn't get copied to the clipboard, actually most times i've tried 
this, that has been the case. This was in ff though so not sure of the 
bug status of that one related to ff issues.
