Well I am glad we are getting both approaches. It isn't really objecting to change. It is about having options. For example I love the f8 key when working with large blocks of text. Btw this is very much a standard method of selecting text. I like the shift arrow keys when working with a small block of text. I like having the option. Also on the subject of formatting you can copy the formatted text. In most word processors you have the option whether or not you key the source formatting or paste text only. This means you also have that option as well.
