The USB ports for version 2 and three are the same.  I imagine that three is
backward compatible with two.  Usually the manual for a new computer will
have a description of ports and where they are placed, but you could also
have someone tell you which ports are USB three, so if you ever encounter
something that requires USB three you will know.
