Even in the 18th century, the typical drawstring neckline was not used. Sometimes there is a drawstring that serves to snug up the neckline a bit , but not to the extent of creating gathers.
Sleeves tend to be gathered into cuffs and sometimes a ruffle added (sometimes of a finer fabric). Some shift sleeves are shorter, close fit and only have a narrow hem. But the same as anywhere, we see the head-swallowing-shift at reenactments.
