Hi Cynthia,
Yes it is getting chilly here now, but the dress is not going to be used in wintertime. The fair takes place in june, so its fine. I did send her some suggestions of reds i would like, but i am afraid she want a real red, like christmas red :-(. But we have not desided to buy silk yeat, i am going to make a cotton model first, and maybe on its way, and when she gets here to fit, ill talk her into some more 18th century reds. I think that this solid red, only was used for uniforms and hunting costumes? Maybe i could persuade her to go and watch Marie Antoinette next month, to get a feeling of the collours. It opens here nov. 17th. What a brilliant idea! I could go with her........... tata tata.........

Isn't it chilly up there this time of year? Is she not to wear any kind of
outerwear? Just wondering.

There is something striking about the plainness...by which I mean the lack
of applied decoration and components like a stomacher or open robe with a
petticoat showing...about the design of the dress. I think outdoors in the cool air it will be quite fetching in a shade of red as striking as the un-fussy design. Not a bright fire engine red, but a ruby or dark crimson would be rich and beautiful. Perhaps you can show her swatches of available fabrics [only show her things you'd want to use!] Maybe even a Jacquard if a solid silk is just too much. The shimmering pattern all in red could look amazing. Even in
two colors with red prominent could be suggested. Remember YOU are the
designer, and "know better". She should trust you....at least as much as you should
please her.
