Thanks Rachel, I had wondered if rice flour would work or not - I get that all the time for tempura. Our local grocery supermarket carries it in the Asian foods section, as does the Asian food store in my city (Fresno, CA, USA). White box, red & blue letters, Mochiko - Sweet Rice Flour. The particular company that makes the box I'm holding is only an hour from where I live.
