After using it for a few hours I am beginning to find my way around. I
think the default gray look is really boring but can accept Gnome 3
needs lots more development and that configuration may become easer in
time.

But there is one thing that is really un-acceptable and that is the
change to the behaviour of the DEL key. I'm talking about the DEL key
in the 'Insert Home Page Up' cluster on the extended keyboard.

This key in any operating system/window manager I have used since 1990
has meant delete whatever follows the cursor. The Del key in the
Numeric key cluster still has this behaviour but the developers of
Gnome 3 seem to have decided the other Del key does nothing unless
combined with CTRL.

The reasoning that it will prevent users from accidentally deleting
files is flawed and reveals real arrogance on their part in deciding
to change what is normal behaviour in every other system.

The work-around suggested in various forums etc using gconf-editor to
allow changes then opening up nautilus etc simply doesn't work for me.

I want my DEL key working as it always has done in the past and if
that means moving to XFCE to get away from Gnome 3 than I'll do it
