Well when you close off a valid choice so flippantly, someone will speak up!

Unless you're on X58, Nvidia artificially prevents SLI for anything but their chipsets. Say what you want today about not EVER doing SLI/CF, but it may be a consideration later and I did not want to lock myself out nor did I want NV's mobo chipset at all. Was looking for months at those killer 8800's that were supposed to be dirt cheap & almost as fast as the the high-end card only to stumble on "drivers prevent SLI on non-NV chipsets" due to NV's money grubbing for licensing fees for something that would have just worked if they didn't actively prevent it. Will be a long time before I choose to give them any $$$ for new product, no matter what issue I hit with ATI.
