I was not being flip. I just had no desire to go with ATI (after many issues with ATI many years ago). So ATI was not a valid choice as I had already chosen Nvidia. Instead of having people waste their time going through the trouble of writing a reply that was in favor of ATI, when I wasn't interested in ATI, I was trying to steer the thread where I wanted to go. And that was with Nvidia. I have weighed all of the options many times and still decide to choose Nvidia.
What bothers me though is that my email was just a request for opinions about what I asked for. I did not expect to be lambasted for not choosing ATI. I did not trash ATI or say that Nvidia was the ultimate brand over all brands. If I had asked for opinions about the different Ford Mustang models I would not expect to hear about Chevrolet or Toyota. BTW, I am building an X58 system. So the SLI issue is moot here. Well when you close off a valid choice so flippantly, someone will speak up! Unless you're on X58, Nvidia artificially prevents SLI for anything but their chipsets. Say what you want today about not EVER doing SLI/CF, but it may be a consideration later and I did not want to lock myself out nor did I want NV's mobo chipset at all. Was looking for months at those killer 8800's that were supposed to be dirt cheap & almost as fast as the the high-end card only to stumble on "drivers prevent SLI on non-NV chipsets" due to NV's money grubbing for licensing fees for something that would have just worked if they didn't actively prevent it.
