So I did set up GSuite Sync as per the link below. I guess it just works b/c we're paying for GSuite...
The problem is that it created a new profile for Outlook. And when it created that new profile for Outlook it only had the work Gmail account in there and not my Hotmail account. And it was prompting me for which profile to use-I could use the GSuite one or my old one, which still had my Hotmail and Gmail (through regular IMAP I guess?) Anyway I went and added my Hotmail to the Outlook profile with GSuite and that seemed to work fine-it sync'ed everything down. But then I tried to send an email with my Hotmail account in Outlook and I keep getting this error: "outlook 2019 the operation failed. the messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error" And googling it I see this come up: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3028159/the-operation-failed-error-when-you-send-email-messages-in-outlook Which says: Symptoms When you send email messages in Microsoft Outlook, you receive the following error message: The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook. Cause This issue occurs when a Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook account and a Microsoft Exchange Server account are configured in the same Outlook profile. Resolution Do not configure an Exchange Server account and a Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook account in the same Outlook profile. Instead, create separate Outlook profiles, and then configure the Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook account in one profile and the Exchange Server account in another profile. The following Microsoft Knowledge Base article describes how to create profile and set up an e-mail account in Outlook. So maybe I'm just dumb and missing something, but it seems like if I have two profiles in Outlook I can only choose one when Outlook starts so I can't work with both at the same time, which kinda defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to do, no? So am I missing something or is that just it and I'm SOL? And I guess I should go back to the way I had it with my old profile and Gmail at least sync'ing the emails and me being able to send emails for Hotmail in Outlook (I had to log into the web interface to send this one!) and I'll just have to manage my work Google calendar by itself directly on the web, separate from Hotmail calendar in Outlook? Thoughts? Lol I should more correctly say that they don't support it-it's not that it's forbidden or anything-just that I got a "Don't come asking us for help with it b/c we don't support it so we won't help you"-there's not actually a policy against using it! I honestly can't in good conscious recommend that you break company policy by using outlook.
