I'll add my vote for a mis-placed stand-off. Have 6 active m/b's here. 3
of them have slightly different mounting hole patterns. Always have to
re-check the case stand-offs each time I dis-mount/re-mount these
odd-balls. Always see differences in the board center and close to the
right-hand edge (inboard). Newer m/b's are much better standardized it
seems.
Interesting idea about the "polarized" power switch plug. Have to think
this one through. Then I realized I do NOT have any new modern cases
that might have lighted power switches. Once I thought about several pix
I've seen from previous shares, the smoke cleared and I have been
enlightened! LOL!

That's a good point -- out-of-place standoffs.

Yep. Out of place standoffs have killed many a board

Hey,
I took my daughter's old m/b , cpu, psu, ram and all and was putting
it into
another case to make a low powered server.
I have everything hooked up (I believe). The m/b power light glows,
but
when I press the power button, nothing happens. No fans spin up or
anything.
Before I take it all apart to try again, does anyone have any
suggestions on
what I could check or try?
BTW, I had asked earlier about putting on Windows Server 2008 R2.
Turns out
I can't since this is a 32-bit P4. 2008 R2 is only 64-bit.
Thanks,
