Possibly not true. I've seen both Thunderbird and Mulberry switch fonts part-way through when they've encountered unicode code-points which sent them searching for a font which has an appropriate glyph. Switching back again after the relevant run of text seems unpopular with MUA authors. And I've very certain that this was "text/plain; charset=UTF-8". -Phil
