Because Fitts's law hasn't been repealed yet? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitts's_law With a mouse cursor, targets at the edges & corners of the screen are easier to hit. With touch-based interfaces, this no longer applies. Then again, with Apple's touch interfaces, there are no menus in the first place, so the whole line of thinking is moot. -- Chris Devers
