Yongjun Zhang commented on HDFS-5939:
-------------------------------------
Thanks ATM for answering my question.
Hi Haohui,
I just posted a new version 005.
About the message, since among three of us, two voted that having the message
is helpful, I'm keeping it:-)
I hope you are not bothered. I do see its value, since very often we look at
log file from night runs, from jenkins
test we run ourselves after making a fix.
Would you please help review again?
Thanks.

> When trying to access hdfs via webhdfs, and when datanode is dead, user will
> see an exception below without any clue that it's caused by dead datanode:
> $ curl -i -X PUT
> ".../webhdfs/v1/t1?op=CREATE&user.name=<userName>&overwrite=false"
> ...
> {"RemoteException":{"exception":"IllegalArgumentException","javaClassName":"java.lang.IllegalArgumentException","message":"n
> must be positive"}}
> Need to fix the report to give user hint about dead datanode.
